2012, annee de la loose!!! Arrive 2013...
It is finally over, it seemed endless these past 12 months. The capricious weather was about the main subject, and here in New York, we got a wake up call with Sandy, after the Irene warning last year!


Close to us, in our heart, all friends winemakers, in some regions more than others, who got severely affected by overwhelming Spring & Summer with, as a result, up to 80% of their harvest destroyed in some cases!!!
We'll beat up fatality, we'll roll up our sleeves a little higher than last year, and make sure that every glass we'll drink in 2013 will be in honor of the wine we won't drink from the 2012 vintage.

 

 

Take time for little brakes, So Be It!!!

A lot of new wines came in this past year, and we promise you more for this coming year as we are, more than ever, dedicated to make you try less known wineries who works with the respect of the natural cycles of the Earth, because as we say, we are very cautious about what we get in our bodies in large quantities.

Oh yes, we're ready for Holidays.

If you're still looking where to book your Christmas Party, we now have options. 2 rooms that can be combine to fit parties up to 40 people, or the big communal table for 24 people and also our brand new private room that can fit up to 16 people.

We also got started on the New Years Eve reservations. We are offering a prix fix menu @ $80 featuring :
. Seared scallops with orange butter & cumin leeks
. Foie gras mi-cuit with raisin/apple chutney
. Codfish  with white butter sauce & lemon mashed potatoes
. Roasted suckling pig with clams, pimenton & sunchoke puree
. Pear confit with blue cheese & mache
. Apple tarte fine
. Chocolate ganache with piquillo coulis & black olives powder

We still have new wines coming in lately. We're welcoming back the wines from Francois Grinand to New York. The Domaine du Perron is a small vineyard located in the Bugey (Savoie) farming with biodynamic principles but without certification. From this association of Francois Grinand and 2 Belgium natural wines aficionados, they now have the Domaine back on track with some great juice like
- "Katapnha" 2011, 100% Chardonnay on limestone with 14 month elevage in old Burgundy barrels
- "Les Ermitures" 2011, 100% Gamay on granit with a semi carbonic maceration & 12 months elevage in a 6 wines Burgundy barrel.
- "Les Etapes" 2011, 100% Pinot Noir on lime stone with the same vinification than the Gamay
- "Serene Blanche" 2011, 100% Roussette on lime stone, with very low yeld that  produce only about 300 bottles!!!
- "Persanne" 2011, 100% Mondeuse.

Just in as well, is the new vintage of Jean-Francois Nicq from Domaine Les Foulards Rouges @ Montesquieu les Alberes, in the Roussillon. We managed to squizz in 3 new cuvees from him. First one is his primeur, "Octobre" 2012, 100% Syrah all on the fruit, the freshness and a little spice, typical from the Syrah. "Frida" 2011, a Carignan/Grenache blend, with a lot of finesse, and the famous "L'Anglore aux Foulards Rouges" 2011, cuvee produced with Eric Pfifferling from Domaine L'Anglore, and only in magnums. Also available "Glaneuses" 2011, a 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah blend, very easy to drink with a crunchy fruit & just enough body to keep a high drinkability!!! Along also came "Glaneurs" 2011, 100% Grenache with no sulfite added like all his cuvees.

We're also welcoming the new vintage from Nadege & Laurent Herbel from St Lambert du Lattay, in Anjou. The cuvee "Alfred & Leon" 2010, a 50/50 Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, very light and fresh, "Le Rouge"09 & 06 (100% Cabernet Franc), a more classic Anjou Rouge but very fresh with supple tannins and a beautiful fruit.
For the whites, "La Rue aux Loups" 2010 ,from young Chenin Blanc vines, got the beautiful aromatic and a great sharpness that makes it easy to drink a fit perfectly with oysters. Finally, my great favorite of all, "La Pointe" 2009 from old Chenin Blanc planted in 1920. Dry with a great depth, this wine is one of the great example why Chenin Blanc is my favorite white grape.

Finally coming in the middle of the week, the 2010 vintage from Stephane Guion in Bourgueil, with both "Domaine" & "Reserve" cuvees.

Well folks, we really can say it's been a while...!!! So many things happenedover the past year, since the last post on this website.

First of all, we want to thank you all for the support you keep giving us. We've been through bumpy roads at the beginning of this year, but we got out of it stronger than ever!!!

We have expaned, and moved the "kitchen" in a new room in the back of the place to gives our cooking team more space and work comfort, to bring you better dishes. And to help us in this task, we asked Antony Cointre, one of the guy behind ViniCircus, the guy who fed you at many wine fairs in France, to help us. In the same style of small dishes, we're now offering some dishes inspired by the real definition of the "Bistrot fair".

Sourcing from organic local farms, with of course seasonal products, we're bringing out market oriented small dishes to complete a menu where you still can enjoy the classics, including a great selection of local, usually raw milk cheeses, along with the cures meats, boquerones, hand cut steak tartar and many more.

It is a great opportunity for us to have now a layout that allows us to bring the food to the quality level of the wine offering. We're constantly looking at new wineries to find juices you'll be able to enjoy exclusively here. We're now getting close to 170 references, so whatever your palate's in the mood for, we'll find the match for it!!!

The wine list is very much French oriented with some Italian, Spanish or eastern Europe options, "drinkability" is the master word of our selection. And because of that, we have expanded our "Big Format" list with over 40 references in magnum size and 10 in the "Jeroboam" section... The bigger, the  better!!!

Space wise, beside our "Communal Table" that fits parties up to 24, we'll be adding a little extra room that we'll consider as "The Chef's Table". An intimate set up that will ba able to accomodate up to 8 people to enjoy a real custom made dinner. We'll keep you posted about availability.
