Sunday Night Delicacies

I woke up with a weird question on my mind : "Why do good wine taste better???"
The answer should be : "Because they're good!!!"

And damn, let's get back to the Beaujolais, I can tell you one thing about it, those we were drinking yesterday taste GOOOOOOOD!!! From the light clean fruit bomb Beaujolais-Village from Paul Janin to deeper, richer, luscious Chiroubles Vieilles Vignes 07 from Descombes or Morgon Vielles Vignes 08 from Thevenet, Beaujolais shows through it's appellations and terroirs that it' is one of the greatest wine region out there and that Gamay is a noble varietal. The combination of finesse, drinkability and complexity makes you want to have more, like after breakfast on your toothbrush!!!

Hey, it's almost Sunday. Once a month, we gonna ask a friend to cook us some special for the Sunday Night Delicacies. For the first Session, we put Hicham Khiri to work. I've been working joyfully for 2 years with him, from Le Pere Pinard down to Les Enfants Terribles. Among all the terrific dishes he pulls out, there's one that make me think of my grand-mother, his Blanquette de Veau...!!! One those old traditional stew enhanced by the richness of the creamy sauce and the tenderness of the veal smothered in it. I can see it with a bottle of Bonnes Blanches 07 from Agnes & Rene Mosse. The silkyness, the complexity and the richness of the Chenin Blanc will match it big time!!!

Blanquette-de-veau

Almost forgot, we got a new Champagne in, the cuvee Brut Nature zero dosage from Drappier, and arriving today, some new magnums from Alsace. The Pinot Noir 08 and the Riesling Ammerschwhir 08 from Audrey & Christian Binner, can't wait to taste. Sounds like a busy week-end coming up, got friends visiting, they just gonna enjoy it without seeing Time Square...

I love squab!!! Next week, I'll tell you all about that Live Poultry / Slaughtered House in Queens I just found...
