Hicham is giving us the essence of Marocco through this staple dish, that will bring comfort and warmth to our heart on those cold and sometimes hard days.
Now said, as promised, 7 new wines are in!!!
Step right up, step right up... Yes ladies & gentlemen, after hard and long discussions, it finally made it to the U.S. Let us introduce you to the long time awaited, the one and only "MMVII" 07 from Marcel Lapierre himself. This special cuvee is made with a selection of older vines only on good riper years. This wine is all about the balance between richness and complexity. My advice, drink it everyday!
I would say that Gamay's my favorite grape. Grown in different regions, on different terroirs, red or rose, sparkling or still, it shows such a diversity of emotions that you have to admit that Gamay's an amazing grape. The second on my list has to be Ploussard. Mainly grown in the Jura region and also in the Bugey. Waiting for the next batch of Plou-Plou from Emmanuel Houillon & Pierre Overnoy, we gonna please our palate with the "Ploussard de Monteiller" 08 from Evelyne & Pascal Clairet. Despite a very pale color, this wine offers subtle aromas of cherry that are gonna pop after a few minutes in a decanter. Along with a great minerality and acidity, this juice becomes more and more enjoyable glass after glass!!!
Even less known and from the Jura as well, the Trousseau grape is grown in small amount here, grown also in Portugal for the Portuguese Port wine. It's coming to you with Philippe Bornard and his "Ginglet" 08. Light and fresh, a tart cherry taste gives to that pale colored wine a great harmony with his assertive tannins and hearthy tones. Who wanna buy some vineyard in the Jura with me???
It have been quiet some time since we had a some wine from Provence. Now it's fixed with a "Les Baux de Provence" 08 from Henri Milan. For this cuvee, he blends every grapes : Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet, Mourvedre & Cinsault. Open the bottle, pour a little bit, swirl it in your glass, close your eyes and smell it!!! You're instantly there, in the Alpilles, smelling all the mixed aromas of the garrigue (juniper, rosemary, thyme, lavender, sage...), take a sip, and all the richness of the soil and the power of the sun will fill your mouth with elegance. A great experience!
Let's get down south, all the way to Sicily to meet, again, with the delicious Arianna Occhipinti. From the Southern Vittoria region of Sicily, growing her grapes @ high elevation with cooling seebreezes, came to us her "Il Frappato" 07. What superlative adjective haven't been used to describe this wine??? Aerial, luscious, bright, fresh, stunning, earthy, aromatic, floral wine loaded with berries notes, and because it is that good, we want you to enjoy it even more in magnum!!!
Ok, time for the whites now. Let's start again with a less known grape. If we say Burgundy, everybody will say Chardonnay. I see you smile, thinking :"what about the Bourgogne Aligote???"
And you're right. considered as the "grape of the poor", the Bourgogne Aligote was mixed with creme de cassis to hide its high acidity. Nowadays, some winemakers found natural ways to transform it into a zesty & tasty beverage. We're talking about our favorite Chablis producers, Alice & Olivier DeMoor, with their Bourgogne Aligote "Plantation 1902" 08.Yes, the vines are 108 years old. The nose is rich and deep with great pear & apple aromas that you gonna find back in the mouth along with a nice typical acidity. We got lucky to get 24 bottles of it, hopefully, soon, a few magnums of it will come to us.
From Burgundy still, but the southern part now, a Macon-Cruzilles "Les Combettes" 08 from the Domaine Guyot-Broux. Still young, the buttery nose will reveal ripe yummy grape aromas while floral notes will emerge from the boldness of that juice. And again, to enjoy it even more, we got it in magnums!!!
Last but not least, a Puzelat Brothers concoction. After pouring you the Cheverny "Frileuse" 07 by the glass, we proudly giving you now the Cheverny "Frileuse" 08 by the bottle. Same blend Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris & Chardonnay (33, 33, 33), that again delivers purity, balanced acidity & fruitiness that makes you wanna drink it over and over!!!

I was involved again in the early 1990s when I started the campaign to label genetically engineered food. I quickly found that my efforts should be directed to getting the USDA to define 'organic' to exclude genetically engineered food... so my labeling campaign would not be needed. I did and we won.
