Chicken with Cilantro for Sunday Night Delicacies

... Philippe Tessier's wines have landed last week. We are grateful to have 2 of his cuvees on our list now : his Cheverny Red 09, a classic blend Pinot Noir / Gamay showing a perfect balance between the ripe fruit from the Gamay and the richness of the Pinot that rounds it up. Great stuff!!!
Then, a Cour-Cheverny. It's quiet a small appelation that allows only 1 grape: Romorantin. Introduced in the 16th Century by King Francois the 1st who took the grape from Burgundy and had it planted around his Domaine in the city of Romorantin, in the Loire-et-Cher. This cuvee, "Les Sables" 08, shows this grape @ it's best. The typical great acidity along with notes of menthol, honey & white truffle gives a great expression of this A.O.C. We'll definitelyl keep some for aging!!!

We've also been lucky enough to get a small allocation of Champagne Vouette-Sorbee. And when I say small, I mean it : 6 bottles of "Fidele", 3 bottles of "Rose de Sorbee" & 4 magnums of "Blanc d'Argile".
Thanks Geoffroy!!!

Speaking of small allocation, let's talk about "Raisins Gaulois" from Marcel Lapierre. It is Marcel's basic cuvee, a nice lively, fruity Gamay from the Beaujolais that drinks like lemonade... Not a wine from massive production, but not a rare wine either. We've gently been offered 4 cases instead of 10 we asked for: thanks Winebow, you'll be in my heart forever for all the great job you guys put together, and for making impossible requests we, little on premise businesses with no Michelin Star, are daring to bother you with!

Stay tuned, some new wines are landing next week, 2 cuvees of red from the Corbieres and a pink bubble & a Chenin Blanc from the Loire.

For this coming Sunday, I mean tomorrow if I'm lucky enough to find some internet connection, we wanted to offer you a dish that would be simple, light, fresh and bold. After reviewing some ideas, the choice went unanimously to a CHICKEN WITH CILANTRO!!!

As I'm writing, in Paris, @ Cave Auge, a tasting called "La Loire se jette a Paris" organized by Marc Sibard is gathering 18 badasss winemakers from the 4 corners of the Loire. The whole thing will end, of course, with a dinner @ Le Baratin!!!
That could have been a mission for my fellow traveller "El Rino" & I, but the ugly World Cup kept us from crossing the ocean. Hopefully, it's only once every 4 years (not the tasting)!!!

Cheers
