In our Pork Quest, after the ears, the tenderloin & the whole suckling pig, this Sunday we will dig in a the classic and yummy part of the "Sus Scrofa Domesticus" : BABY BACK RIBS!!!
Quiet some wines have landed in our fridges yesterday. As announced, the "Fleurie" 07 from Jean Foillard is ripe and juicy with a beautiful acidity. The mouth is intense with vegetal notes and a lingering finish : just amazing!!!
The second one we tried last night is the "Sauvignon de St Bris" 09 from Alice & Olivier Demoor. The wine start showing @ opening with grapefruit and apricot pit notes, after a few minutes, the wine rounds up and gives you an intense rich & ripe mouth with so many flavors going on...!!!
Third one, a wine we already know, the Touraine Gamay "La Butte" 09 from the Puzelat Brothers for "Le Clos du Tue-Boeuf". A great expression of my favorite grape in a very rustic and earthy version, ripe with the right amount of fruit, a light touch of acidity balance the whole juice and make it an perfect match with cheeses, charcuteries and other delicacies we have on the menu. So what's special about it you would say, this time, it's bottled in magnums (merci Titi) and we took them all!!!
We received 3 more wines that we didn't taste yet. People sometimes complain that we are short listed on wines from the Rhone Valley, it is now fixed. Like every year, a small amount of wine from Michelle Aubery-Laurent is allocated to New-York. We got less lucky than last year, ending with only 36 bottles of "Poignee de Raisin" 09, 6 bottles of "L'Elementaire de Gramenon" 09 and 6 bottles of "Sierra du Sud" 09...!!!
A while ago, I was writing about diversity. Cory Cartwright wrote a nice piece about it on his blog "saignee ( The Diversity of Wine) and Eric Asimov was all about it this week. Go out there, be adventurous, open your mind and try new sensations, new tastes, new grapes, new wines, make an opinion for yourself...
